MP3 attribute/indexing question [and bitrates show up garbled]

hey all
it's been a number of years since I used my (now old) BeOS machine, and I'm trying to remember a few things about getting my MP3 attributes indexed properly so they can be searched via Tracker. The first thing I've noticed is that many of the bitrates show up as VERY different than what they should be, as in 192kbps files showing up in Tracker as 30kbps.
I used Scot Hacker's "Rip Enc" to set up the attributes on all the drives on the machine, and copied all my MP3's to a new partition (I'm moving some things around now than I've realized Dan0 can make BFS's larger than 60Gb - so I don't have to have EIGHT 30Gb drives on this machine). I thought that would do the trick, but no luck. I went into Terminal and used lsindex to see what attributes are indexed, but whenever I try to seach via Tracker by, say, artist... I get no results.
Could this be something I'm doing wrong, or could it be a bad combo of using Dan0 + the newest OpenTracker?
Thanks in advance.
