You'll have to wait a while longer. BeUnited can't release it until Sun certifies it, which means it will have to be completed before certification before release.

I have no idea how quickly Sun's turnaround on certification is.

Ok, that's ok, but if Sun's certification process for BeOS is as slow as for Java3D on MacOS X......
Iīll better wait seated....

Saludos!

hi,

don't know if you already read it at beunited...but they are expecting Sun to test their java implementation early next year, so hopefully we won't have to wait too long anymore,

regards,

Tim

Is that good or bad?  Good I guess.  I prefer Python myself.  Smile

At work we began switching all of our products from MS stuff to Java apps (web, web services, etc).  Java, the language, is alright.  J2EE is a monster.

It now has a partial AWT (applet graphics) implementation, and I think the entire command line and networking stuff is done. Swing will be done quickly when AWT is done.

Bryan Varner and Andrew Bachmann (and others) are feverishly working at it.  One devious way to get Java before certification would be to sign Sun's developer licensing, and join the beunited team.  But, please let them know that is what you are joining for, so they don't expect actual work out of you.  Wink  And don't expect too much, other than basic command line stuff working at this point.  AWT and swing are still in progress.  And please DO NOT ask them questions on how to get it working - they have enough to do than answer questions not related to actually doing the port.
